DEKRA has been recognized as an Apple MFi (Made For iPhone) Authorized Test Laboratory. We support customers in evaluating their products according to the CarKey and CarPlay MFi certification programs. We can guide them through the process with our Project Management and Pre-Testing services and perform an Audit prior to certification.
2021: DEKRA became an Apple MFi Authorized Test Laboratory for CarPlay certification.

2023: DEKRA extended its scope and locations for Car Key certification services.

Our services for CarPlay and CarKey
Manufacturers seeking MFi certification should complete a series of test programs, either through self-testing or a third-party lab. This process can be challenging without prior experience. We offer comprehensive support, including planning test requirements in a logical sequence, effective test execution and procedural guidance, as well as managing follow-up steps, including preparing test results for submission to Apple in compliance with required specifications.
Our services include:
- Test Bench and Sample Handling: Support to define test benches, readers and samples. Configuration of test benches as per requirements. Handling procedures (e.g., key fob, engine start, window operation). Management of samples for submission to Apple or to DEKRA labs.
- MFi Test Program Guidance: Explanation of the Apple MFi test program. Support to interpret MFi documentation and differences between programs. Preparation of samples, test benches and vehicles for each program. Further issues related to the testing.
- Results Interpretation: Clarification of pre-test results and failures.
- Test Tools and Test Plan Review: Guidance on test tools, test beds, and devices. Review of test plans for audits sent by Apple.
- Project Management and Coordination: Coordination of activities, customer calls, reporting, and lab bookings. Support, if required, with Apple to understand any new requirements, for example.
