On the basis of laboratory results, substances and mixtures are sorted into hazard classes, which reflect a realistic assessment of the hazard. This GHS (Globally Harmonized System) classification is carried out in the EU according to the European CLP regulation ("Regulation on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures", 1272/2008/EG).
