Critical Review according to ISO 14071
Verification of CO₂ footprints and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies for products and services
Today, companies and consumers are faced with an overwhelming amount of information on the environmental impacts of products. However, many sustainability studies fail to meet the standards set by internationally recognized guidelines for Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
With our independent critical review, in accordance with ISO 14071, you can enhance the credibility and reliability of your PCF and LCA studies.
Critical Review According to ISO 14071: At a Glance
In today’s world, companies and consumers are flooded with information on climate neutrality and product environmental impacts. This abundance of data makes it difficult to distinguish credible claims from misleading ones. Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of sustainability claims is more important than ever.
Our Critical Review, in accordance with ISO 14071, involves a thorough evaluation of the methodology, data, and results for ISO 14067 in the case of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) studies, and ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 for Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). This process ensures your studies meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and transparency. Additionally, we provide opportunities to address any deviations, and upon successful review, we verify your study’s conformity with the relevant standards.
In addition to verifying PCF and LCA studies for individual products, we also offer verification services for entire product portfolios, accounting standards, and PCF and LCA software tools.
Our Approach Using PCF and LCA Studies as Examples
We verify your PCF or LCA studies through an accompanying or final critical review, compliant with ISO 14071. To begin, a report on the study must be provided, adhering to internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14067 for PCF and ISO 14040/ISO 14044 for LCA studies.
Depending on your needs, we review the conformity of your study in 2-3 phases based on the report and study documentation. After each phase, you will receive a documented interim result, including recommendations and requirements for addressing any deviations from the standards. You can revise the study and report at each stage. Additionally, we offer a review meeting after each phase to clarify any ambiguities or address questions.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a review report and certificate for internal and external communication. Based on experience, the entire process typically takes 2-3 months, depending on the time required for revisions.
