DEKRA extends its product certification and global market access

DEKRA recognized as a Certification Body to certify telecommunications products in Mexico

Nov 25, 2024

DEKRA has been accredited in Mexico by EMA (Mexican Accreditation Entity) and approved by the Mexican institutions DGN (General Direction of Standards), IFT (Telecommunications Federal Institute), and the CONUEE (National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy) to certify telecommunications products according to electrical safety, energy efficiency and telecommunications regulations in Mexico. This accreditation enables DEKRA to issue the Conformity Mark, locally known as the 'Official Password' and commonly referred to as the 'NOM' Conformity Mark on Mexican products.

The NOM standards are a set of mandatory technical standards and regulations established by the Mexican government that products and services must meet to ensure quality and safety levels set in the country.
"The recognition of DEKRA as a Certification Body in Mexico represents a significant milestone, showcasing our ongoing expansion of product certification capabilities across the Americas. DEKRA already offers accredited Certification Body services in multiple countries in that region, including Brazil (INMETRO, ANATEL), Chile (SEC and Subtel), Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Panama. This achievement strengthens our Global Market Access services and underscores our commitment to providing comprehensive solutions to efficiently commercialize products internationally", emphasized César Valencia, Business Line Director of Product Certification in Digital & Product Solutions at DEKRA.

In addition to these certification services, DEKRA can also support customers in Mexico with ADAS testing, field testing and homologation for mobile operators for mobile phones, SIM cards and eSIMs. Furthermore, DEKRA test reports issued in other locations are accepted according to Mexican regulations and procedures, such as the DEKRA laboratory in Sterling (US), which is authorized for NOM-208.
DEKRA continues to expand its presence in the Americas, having previously obtained the accreditation to certify electrical and electronic products in Brazil and Chile.
